Theme 13: Misfortune

Hello Blog Dwellers!

This isn't the only image I hope to produce from this theme. This was actually drawn to play around in the character development process for another image involving "Miss Fortune". I kept going with it and got this lovely image. I hope to create the other still, but the style will be different to this. Looking forward to playing around with a few of the style's I have up my sleeve!

Miss Fortune owns her own store and was a part of a coven, with a few younger friends, when she was growing up, mainly in high school, she will actually be the villain of the story in the next image.

I really enjoyed these drawings, and it was good to feel the freedom of using both the pen and pencil.

So after my bus trip today I decided to draw this. 

Following it through, because I finally have PHOTOSHOP again, I had a lot of fun getting the colours working together. I love how this turned out.

Hi All!

Hello blog dwellers,

So I haven't technically been working, online that is, due to some very unfortunate problems with the scanner, main computer, and other technology objects. I find that this makes me want to scream reguarly, but I'm praying that this should all be fixed veeery sooooon. I have been working on "100 themes" challenge during this time, getting a lot of traditional line work underway. I am definitely learning that computers do help my practice, but I am learning how fun it is to work without them as well. Here are a few images that I have completed during this time!

Photo manipulation and sketches: 12/11/13

Hello Blog Dwellers!

Continuing on my current procrastination exploration (of amazingness) has led me to keep working on this style that I was playing around with. I have a LOT of ideas now for how to explore this further. For now I'm focusing on what I've already started (simple already found images) but I plan to progress to photo shoots and background manipulations on Photoshop. SO EXCITING! I'll still be pursuing the bolder lines, but this is a fun journey!

Playing in the Park 11/11/13

Hello blog dwellers!

Having some fun with a pencil sketch and then following it through.

I love using pencils, but only will I every now and again follow through with them.

I love that I have the flexibility to work with all the mediums at hand.

Really enjoy how this one worked out in the end!

The background was an image I took (phone) and then cartoonised.

I might play around with this concept for backgrounds later on...

Kisses..and line exploration: 11/11/13

Hello blog dwellers!

Through procrastination on one project, I have been working on research/ background concept collection for the Beauwulf Graphic Novel. I have a kissing scene (eek) in the next coming page, and I really haven't a clue how to draw it, so I'm trying a few reference images. This one is based a beautiful image (found here: http://sethadamsmith.com/2012/08/30/our-cupcake-wedding-cake-2/skwedding323/#main) stumbled upon. I've used the normal approach to my work (with the thick block lines) but also had a go colouring the lines as well. Both I find are effective! The coloured lines definitely give a more open feeling to the image, whereas the bold black creates a dynamic contrast. I'll keep uploading as I go, but both are fun. (Although the black lines are faster for the turna-around).

Dinosawrs!

 

Hello Blog Dwellers!
Here's a good look at some of the dinosawrs that I have been working on (RAWR!). I'm excited to explore where these characters can go. This is just 1/3 of what I have drawn up so far, yes there are a LOT of dino's. It's a really fun project, I can definitely see cards, bookmarks and childrens books. Will see how this goes!
